Painting With Yarn...

Well, sort of.  I just finished a cowl called "Painterly Cowl" (paid pattern on Ravelry).

When I saw pictures of the finished projects of this cowl, I just knew I had to do it.  Most of theirs looked like they were "painted"... Mine, well, sort of. Not quite what I was going for...but still pretty.

I was so excited to get this one off the needles.  But when I did and put it on, I felt such major disappointment!  No fault of the pattern - just not what I had in my mind's eye while knitting away faster and faster - trying to get to the bind off and put it on point!  After blocking it, it looks much better (a bit wider) and I'm happier with it.  If I do another one at some point, I will definitely make it wider while knitting - and then the blocking will bring it to the perfection point!

Do you ever do this?  Knit something that you just see in your head is going to turn out a certain way and then your bubble bursts?

That's really pretty, Linda. What yarn did you use? When people see it on you, they'll never know that it was supposed to look different. You'll get lots of compliments!
