I did this in July of 1995! After stitching it, I coffee stained it - to make it look more primitive - added a little key from my "old key" collection. When my Mom came for a visit, she asked if it was hers to take home. I was like - well, it is hanging on my wall, so I think it is mine - LOL! After they left to go back to Ohio, I immediately started stitching another one for her. I did hers on a better piece of linen - called antique white. And then gently stained it.... It is still hanging on her wall to this day - connecting us by "heart" - 500 miles away....

I am so glad you ended up making one for your mother, too. You had to know this was a gift she would treasure since she wanted to take yours home with her. I also like the extra touch with the key. "Antiquing" is sometimes necessary for certain pieces. Great job!
What a lovely little sampler you created back then! Enjoy your day!
