Knit One Purl One Knit One Purl One....

This is a scarf I'm knitting for my sister. It will be a Christmas gift - if I can hold off that long on giving it to her! It is done with two different colorways of Noro Silk Garden. You do two rows in the one color - using a K1, P1 stitch, and then you do two rows in the other color - and just switch back and forth, carrying the yarn up the side. It is fun seeing how the bejeweled stripes come out - sort of a present in itself! I'm making one for me too! I love my little cat with her knitting basket. I bought her years and years ago - long before I started knitting. Guess it was fate....

O H I O - my home sweet home....

Here is my finished "Emma". I loved stitching this design. For one reason, my Father's mother was named Emma. And the other reason I enjoyed stitching it so much, is the fact that it has the word "Ohio" on it. I'm originally from there. My entire family is still living back there. I'm the only one that is "away from home". I've been away from there for 35 years, and am still homesick. I added the little key to the sampler - as the key to my heart is back in Ohio with my parents and siblings.

It's A Frame-Up!

I had so much fun on Tuesday, running around to several stores, trying to find frames to use for my finished needlework projects. I found some good ones - and on top of that, they were all bargains!

Quaker Samplers....

are a love of mine! One of the ones I'm truly enjoying working on is called "Quaker Samplings, Part I" designed by "With My Needle". I'm stitching it in DMC #816. It is such a joyful shade of red. Whenever I am stitching on this sampler, I realize that I'm smiling the whole time. I should really work on it more....! One of my favorite parts of this sampler is the large alphabet that works as the border of the design.

Stitching samplers...

I adore stitching samplers. Some of my favorite themes are the ones with houses and alphabets on them. I just bought two new ones that are so sweet. One is by Midsummer Night Designs. It is called "Forget Me Not". One of the reasons I love it is because of the saying on it "Forget Me Not, Forget Me Never, Let My Work Give Joy Forever". Another reason I like it so much are the colors and the symbols on it - especially the hearts - a favorite of mine on designs I do. The other chart that caught my eye lately is "When This You See" by Blackbird Designs. It has a house on it - and a heart symbol. But one of the things I like the most about it is the passage "when this you see, remember me" is spelled out in the grass in front of the house. I like things that are a bit "different" like that. Or when the alphabet is "laid out" in a different manner - such as in a dress (like it is in one of the designs from Carriage House Samplings. I'm always on the lookout for that type of thing. Anyway, if you would like to see Forget Me Not and When This You See, you can find them at 123stitch.com

Birthday goodies....

I went to the cross stitch place first and bought myself some stash! They were having a 25% off sale on charts! I got Prairie Schooler's "Rain Rain Go Away";
La-D-Da's "Alphabet Sampler"; Bent Creek's "Winter Row" and "All In a Row"; Notforgotten Farm's "O Christmas Tree" and "A Christmas Sampler"; and one called "At Christmas" by Wildflower. I've already started on a couple of these!

And then....

I also hit the yarn shop, and treated myself to the yarn on the left. On my birthday morning, I opened gifties from my friend Joanne, and found this lovely yarn on the right. We are in tune with our colors - aren't we!!
